Ab 1979 Mitwirkung am Aufbau der Studienrichtung Foto-/Film-Design, ab 1999 Studienrichtung Fotografie und Medien. Ab 1979 Konzeption der Bielefelder Symposien über Fotografie und Medien - Beiträge zur ästhetischen Theorie und Praxis der technischen Bildmedien und ihrer Geschichte. 1984 Gründung des Forschungs- und Entwicklungsschwerpunktes (FESP) "Fotografie".
