www.gastonbertin.com Gaston Bertin was born in France in 1965, he grew up in Barcelona, he went to college in the US and in Italy. He began doing his abstract photographic work while in he was completing his BFA at Parsons School of Design in New York. He has had numerous shows in Europe as well as in the US and Canada. He is represented in France by Galerie 1900-2000 (Paris) and by Galerie Sollertis (Toulouse), in Barcelona by Galeria h2o, in the US. by Lemberg Gallery (Detroit). Gaston Bertin is a photographer searching for things that do not exist, through light and color he intends to trigger emotions and feelings. His images are photographs of hand made paper constructions that he creates while he takes his pictures. Gaston Bertin plays with light, focus, depth of field and perspective, and stays away from computer generated manipulations. Until recently he shot negative film and he did his own printing. Now he works digitally, his methodology has not changed, his camera remains his main tool. “I take pictures to see what I saw. To create a future to an immediate satisfaction. I think about space, I take pictures of time. Diffused light eliminates matter. I love almost silence.”Gaston Bertin.
